About FPC-2026

A premier national gathering bringing together experimental and theoretical/computational physical and biophysical chemists from across India to cross-fertilize ideas, discuss new research paradigms, and foster collaborative discoveries.

Uniting Experiments, Computations & Fundamental Theory

The national conference "Frontiers of Physical Chemistry: Experiments, Computations and Theory" (FPC-2026) is organized at the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS), Kolkata, from October 28–31, 2026 (Wednesday–Saturday).

The scientific programme spans the forefront of physical and biophysical chemistry, including artificial intelligence and machine learning in chemistry, molecular dynamics of complex liquids and biomolecules, ultrafast and nonlinear spectroscopy, chemical reaction dynamics, electrochemistry, atmospheric chemistry, astrochemistry, and interdisciplinary areas at the nexus of chemistry, physics, and biology.

The meeting features keynote and invited lectures by leading pioneers across the country, alongside extensive poster sessions and short presentations by young faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD scholars. Poster presentations by senior faculty members and mentors have been a proud signature of these Physical Chemistry conferences.

Sessions begin at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 28 October and close after lunch on Saturday, 31 October. Please plan your travel accordingly — participants are encouraged to stay for the full duration of the conference.

Registration is a two-step process

  1. Pay the registration fee on the FPC 2026 payment portal. Choose your category there and the amount fills in automatically. On success the portal issues a money receipt — save it.
  2. Complete the registration form, giving the receipt number and attaching a copy of the money receipt.

Use the same name and the same email address in both steps — that is how a payment is matched to a registration.

Registration closes 20 September 2026. The registration form is hosted on Google Forms and asks you to sign in to a Google account.

Abstract Submission

Abstracts are invited for poster presentation. The oral programme — keynote, invited and short invited lectures — is by invitation of the organising committee.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Length: Maximum 300 words, on one A4 page.
  • Figure: 1 key representative color figure allowed.
  • References: Up to 3 concise citations.
  • Format: Use the official Word or LaTeX template; upload as PDF.

By long-standing tradition, senior faculty present posters alongside their students.

Acceptances are notified by 15 September 2026. Presenting authors must also complete registration and pay the fee before registration closes on 20 September 2026.

About the Host Institution (SNBNCBS)

Established in 1986 under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences is an autonomous research institute dedicated to honoring the legacy of legendary theoretical physicist Professor Satyendra Nath Bose.

The centre boasts modern auditorium facilities (Silver Jubilee Hall), on-campus guest houses, scientific computing facilities, and state-of-the-art physical chemistry research laboratories.

PhD scholars, postdoctoral fellows, young faculty members, and senior faculty members are all welcome to present posters. Poster presentations by faculty members are a signature feature of this conference series.

Poster boards take vertical (portrait) posters up to A0 size (841 mm wide × 1189 mm high). Mounting materials will be provided on-site.

Invited speakers will be accommodated in the SNBNCBS on-campus Guest House. Participants selecting the accommodation fee package will be accommodated on a shared basis in the campus guest house and partner guest houses in Salt Lake.
